I like my Linux like I like my steak, bleeding....

by

I use and have used Fedora for many years, I couldn't even remember what the first version I installed was. It was Fedora Core back then, I'm sure.

I love that it is bleeding edge but it is too stable these days. So today when I saw Linus had released the first release candidate for version 7 of the kernel I thought, yes! I want to try it now.

Having a quick google, i stumbled across a  copr repository.

@Kernel-Vanilla/next offers bleeding edge kernels for multiple versions of Fedora. Installing is easy. If you are running Fedora 42, 43, 44 or Rawhide and you like risk, the instructions are as follows;

To start with, we need to add the repo,

sudo dnf -y copr enable @kernel-vanilla/next

Then, simply update.

sudo dnf update

Once you reboot, and the kernel avoids a panic, you should have kernel 7 installed.

Now, you try this at your own risk. It works for me but it is a release candidate.
